:: Legends never Die ::

Great loss for Sci-Fi

Today one of my Heroes has passed into the beyond....... may he rest in peace.

I Just found out that the Master behind some of the greatest film FX in movie history is gone.

Stan Winston the man who gave us the Sinister red glare of the Terminator & the larger than life Dinosaurs in Jurasic Park has died after a 7 year battle with cancer.

He was one of the last in his field not to rely on a DAMN Computer program to do something he & his company could make themselves.

I'm just glad he passed on his love of makeing props & monsters to a younger generation & that his work will stand the test of time.

Thank you for the memories Mr. Winston.

Yes, it is sad to see a master in the art of prosthetics, props, and animatronics pass away. The trend in movies toward CGI effects saddens me. Its very telling that almost the only way to see these sort of effects these days is to watch straight to DVD horror movies....which is probably why i like them so much. Terminator, The Thing, American Werewolf in London, among many others...all great movies that owe their greatness to Stan Winston and his crew. He will be sorely missed.
